What Can We Do About Global Warming?

Our world is an ever-changing world, full of moving pieces and interconnected relationships. Our world is so globally connected that things that go on in China can far reaching results in the United States. One of the global issues that people of all races, colors, creeds, and nationalities is facing in global warming. There are many different theories about how to deal with global warming, but all of them will require a global effort in order to achieve them.

One of the far-fetched solutions to global warming is by just finding another habitable planet. This is one of those ideas that only seems possible in Hollywood. Human Paragon gives greater insight into the specific difficulties of achieving this feat of science. Realistically, we need solutions that can have an effect on our planet and environment now, like reducing emissions and slowing global deforestation.

Global Warming

Due to the effects of human habitation on the earth, global warming is a serious issue, and hot topic, in todays world. Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect, in its natural process, is one of the reasons that earth is a habitable planet. The greenhouse effect is the process by which the earth uses the suns warmth. Certain gases, known as greenhouse gases, will trap the warmth that keep the earth at a habitable temperature. This provides an insulated protection from the rest of the universe.

Global warming is not a new idea to the world. It was first written about and published in 1896, so I guess we just procrastinated on that one. Global warming occurs when this natural process (the greenhouse effect) is sped up due to unnatural causes, like the ones that humans have created.

Human Processes That Cause Global Warming

There are numerous gases that are considered greenhouse gases, like water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, surface ozone, and nitrous oxide. These are naturally occurring gases but through human industry and technology, some of these gases are produced as by-products of human activities.

There are countless ways greenhouse gases are produced by people. The agriculture industry is a huge producer of methane. The manure by livestock releases huge amounts of methane into the atmosphere. The global use of fossil fuels, like coal and oil, produces large amounts of carbon dioxide, because carbon dioxide is a byproduct of any type of burning. Deforestation causes 10% of the world carbon emissions. Also, the production of electricity, one of the central necessities for our world, can produce numerous greenhouse gases, like sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide.

What Can We Do About This?

There are ways of dealing with, and reversing, this effect with help of the entire world. These solutions require the cooperation of our global community because a problem this size requires us to work together to solve this problem.

  • One of the most important places to start is with the education of the world concerning global warming. There are many out there who are working to dispel the idea of global warming and say that isn’t a real process. We have to stop trying to misinform the global population. Education is the first way to combat any issue, because in order to solve any problem, you must understand the ins and outs. Education is the key.
  • A general reduction in the emissions of greenhouse gases is the next place to start. This can be the most difficult as well. So many different processes and activities can produce these greenhouse gases, that there are a lot of contributing factors and players. Therefore, the world must be vigilant and conscience of how we all, from individuals to corporate industry, can improve the state of our world.
  • Slowing down deforestation will improve this world on multiple levels. First of all, trees purify the air and produce oxygen as a natural byproduct of photosynthesis. Also, it will slow down the destruction of delicate ecosystems that can be destroyed by deforestation. When looked at in terms of global warming, trees release carbon dioxide when they are cut down. All the carbon dioxide they contain, because carbon dioxide is an necessary ingredient for photosynthesis, is released into the atmosphere when a tree is cut down. It is a part of the decomposition of the tree.

In Closing

There are many contributing factors to global warming with variety of solutions. It is hard to tell what the future holds for further effects of global warming, but we know it’s happening and that we have to do something about it. Through global citizen education and environmentally conscious industry practices across the globe, we may just be able to help ourselves and the earth. If we can use science to create great technology, we should use it to create ways to heal our planet.
